About P.A. Gold Mineração e Metalurgia
P.A. Gold Mineração e Metalurgia has its operation located in the rural area of the city of Peixoto de Azevedo, MT. It is a 100% Brazilian mining company, specialized in the operation of narrow-veined underground mines.
P.A. Gold seeks to pioneer narrow-seam underground mining in one of the country’s most promising mining regions. It operates sustainably in the extraction of mineral resources.
How did you get to know Engeman®?
Now that you know P.A. Gold, let’s understand how they got to our software. Wesley Diniz told us how this process was. See what he said:
“We acquired some machines and needed to control hour meter readings and the condition of preventive and corrective maintenance. We did not have a system that did this control because our ERP system did not have a specific maintenance module. So, we went to the market and started researching mining companies in our same department which maintenance systems were most used. So, we received two recommendations, and one of them is a frequent partner of ours today, not only in the maintenance environment but also in other areas. We do strong benchmarking with them.”
“We have also taken an extra step regarding integration. From the conversations with this partner company, we saw the possibilities of integration, and we have already done the project based on the best flows to meet both areas, maintenance and supplies.“
“From the beginning, our goal was to implement integrations to streamline the daily interface because we wanted to put a system that would work independently of other human functions so that the flow could continue. The idea was always to integrate the tools as much as possible. This is to automate, save time, and achieve an improvement in the flow of information.”
With the goals very clear, they found in Engeman® the tools they needed to integrate information and work more optimally.
Relationship with Engeman during implementation
After the demonstration was made and the decision was made, it was time to implement the system at P.A. Gold. To understand what their experience was like at this decisive moment, we asked them how their relationship with Engeman was during the implementation process. Wesley told us the following:
“We had a great relationship with Engeman®’s analytical staff and the experts who supported us in making the integration. They understood our business and how we wanted to act according to the strategic maintenance plan here within the company. At all times, the Engeman team contributed proactively, they also gave us the freedom to think a little outside the box about the integrations and demands that would be important for our business model”.
“They also brought other information, such as the processes that were done in other companies, so that we could start from the beginning to mature the ideas. The methodology, which enabled us to reach a satisfactory level within the tool, was always in place. The entire process was documented and validated in both parts, providing clarity on the adjustments and support throughout. So we made a very assertive implementation and integration so as not to have to rework. Engeman team has always served us in the best way.”
Problems before using Engeman® Software
Prior to Engeman implementation, Wesley told us that P.A. Gold faced problems in “controlling work orders, material and labor costs by type of maintenance, transparency in PCM process information, lack of reliable reporting, and slowness in the failure analysis process”.
Still on the problems faced, Marcos Henrique also commented a little about what was going on there. Check it out:
“One of our difficulties was to associate the orders, for example, a machine broke down, and we asked for a part. When it wasn’t done via Engeman®, we had no control, we had to go to the warehouse every day, every day asking the warehouse or the buyer what day the piece would arrive“.
This problem, the lack of integration between the company’s departments, which was faced by P.A. Gold, is recurrent in many businesses today. The time spent gathering information and reworking leads the company to have great losses in its processes.
Results achieved with Engeman®
We asked Wesley what results they achieved with Engeman®. He told us that they achieved “transparency in processes, agility in information, and managerial control“.
Continuing with the results, as previously commented by Marcos about the problem of integrating information from the warehouse, he also told us how Engeman® helped them. About the results, Marcos added:
“With the W.O. integration with our ERP, Engeman® already makes the association and traceability of the data. From the moment we open the work order and register the need for material, the software already does all sorting, showing the status of the movement within Engeman®. So, from the moment the W.O. goes from pending to completed status, I can, with my maintenance plan, make an intervention plan for the activity, that is, we spend less time on rework with information that is centralized in people and gain time in reliability and accessible information for everyone to have more agility in our process.”
Marcos went on to say:
“We had a reduction in the lead time of the purchase processes, in data that took an average of 20 to 30 days to complete a process. Today, with the integration via Engeman®, we have reduced it to 10 days. This is because the software already communicates in the system, and it is a piece of data that I can take and prove that I have that lead time. Today we are able to measure the cost per equipment, which did not happen before because we did not have this integration of Engeman®. As we register the material within the work order, today, we are already able to measure it. As a short-term improvement, we can already measure and raise costs per equipment, something that was not happening before.“
In fact, keeping data integrated brings more reliability and agility to your maintenance processes, as we can see through P.A. Gold’s experience.
Points that Engeman® helped the most in improving P.A. Gold’s maintenance process
Regarding the improvements in the maintenance process, Wesley told us that Engeman® helped in the “automatic generation of preventive maintenance and inspection issuance processes, accessible reports, and speed in the material requisition processes. What we like most about Engeman® is the ease of layout, simple reports, and clear and objective flowchart.”
About this question, Marcos complemented by saying:
“I see Engeman® as an ally and partner for our activities. When we analyze its layout, we see all the necessary tools to manage maintenance. We were able to have the data reports, both financial and material, that were used in a period and for which asset they were intended.”
“Today we have traceability throughout the process of the requester of the part and to which area, equipment, or fleet the part was destined. With all the data within Engeman®, it already brings automation of the maintenance operation. From the moment we register the assets, the maintenance plans, the control points, we have this automated flow that, when it reaches the alerts, it already generates the requests for work orders.”
“With this, we have a schedule that Engeman® itself puts for us, which can be weekly, monthly, and annual. With this planning, we can implement the labor planning, we can address all aspects of planning to have enough data to know if our labor is sufficient or not for a certain type of activity, and in the end, still compile with the costs of hours and maintenance material.”
Engeman® Usability
In our conversation, Marcos also highlighted some points about Engeman® usability. See what his perception is:
“Engeman® itself makes the user have an intuition of how the management process works, gives that step-by-step guide on how to register a company, an employee, an asset, vacations, time off, the work schedule, how long the shift is, how many people I work with in the shift, which places I have labor, locations of fixed equipment, the places where I have mobile equipment, what are the maintenance plans, control point, interventions performed. “
“It brings a lot of didactic things; you can include images and alerts. There is the Mobile version of reports per user without granting a license, which I think is very important for integrated management between the areas. This all makes us agile in the process and reliable in the information.”
About the Cloud environment offered by Engeman, Wesley said:
“We currently use Cloud, we get direct access for analysts without the need for VPN, with this we can also reduce the workload of our local network. Secure environment with high availability.
System Integration
About the integrations they use there at P.A. Gold, Wesley told us the benefits they achieved.
“The integrations brought us an evolution in the W.O./Requisition requirements. The W.O. are automatically opened in Engeman®, and demands such as direct purchase, requisition and inventory, and even external service requisition are initiated within our OneERP. Fuel write-offs based on the same integration have also been automated for inventory write-offs after verification of open W.O.s.”
The integration system is essential so that all information is gathered and the manager can have a strategic vision of the company as a whole. In this way, your business can only gain from the agility and reliability of data and decisions.
Next goals in P.A. Gold’s maintenance management
About P.A. Gold’s next steps with the use of Engeman®, Wesley told us:
“We are going to put more licenses in the plant and processing part for generator, motor, and mill controls. Most of the equipment is already registered within Engeman®, we are only adapting the operational workforce to control the system itself. In the second half of early 2024, we will have a growing evolution of both the knowledge base and the operation.”
With this, P.A. Gold intends to “have even more reliability in the information, update maintenance and inspection plans, insert maintenance point controls in critical components, and automate W.O. generations and management at a glance”, concluded Wesley.
